Cowboys buy tracts for more stadium parking

The Dallas Cowboys have added another parking lot for the $1.1 billion stadium under construction in Arlington.

The team’s owner, Jerry Jones, has purchased more than a dozen parcels within walking distance of the stadium. The seller is Cowboys executive Jud Heflin.

Heflin, who was involved in the negotiations to bring the Cowboys to Arlington, began buying land on Randol Mill Road and Web and Slaughter streets in fall 2006. At the time, Heflin said that he bought several single-family homes and the former Bethel Baptist Church site as investments and that the purchases weren’t affiliated with the Cowboys. Read more

NFL willing, Pacman gamble might pay off in my opinion

Pacman Fever? Fortunately, I’ve had my flu shots.

But if the Dallas Cowboys really, truly, all-due-diligently believe that Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones is worth the gamble, they shouldn’t let local public opinion sway them.

My informed public opinion included.

By all accounts — and there are a lot of accounts to read, if you’ve got the time and the Web site addresses — Pacman Jones is a 24-year-old cornerback/punk who won’t, or can’t, stay out of trouble. His brushes with the law have earned him a one-year suspension by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Read more
