Cowboys Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
The Cowboys have only one goal in mind in 2008. That’s the Super Bowl. After last season’s disappointing end—losing in the first round to the eventual Super Bowl champion Giants after going 13-3 in the regular season—it’s all they can think about.
“The Giants were last year’s champs,” coach Wade Phillips said. “We’re trying to be this year’s champs.”
“Man, we let it slip away,” tight end Jason Witten said.
The problem with the Cowboys‘ Super Bowl or bust mantra is that this is a team that has essentially done nothing substantive. The core players on this team are 0-2 in the playoffs with two one-and-done exits in 2006 and 2007. That trend actually dates back to the last five times the Cowboys were in the playoffs.

Romo, Cowboys get in synch in win over Texans (AP)
Take away a couple of bad throws by Tony Romo, and the Dallas Cowboys finally resembled the team that everybody expects to see this season. Including a relieved coach Wade Phillips. “I feel good about where we are,” Phillips said. “It was one of those games that you needed to turn it on. I think everybody felt that, even the novices that don’t know as much as coaches do.
Broncos‘ running backs ranks are thinning (AP)
With the boom of thunder shaking the bubble roof overhead, Selvin Young took the handoff at the Denver Broncos‘ walkthrough in their indoor facility Friday and jogged around the right side when he tripped over his own feet. “I just heard the thud,” coach Mike Shanahan said. “Looks like he’s OK.” It’s been that kind of month for the Broncos‘ beleaguered backfield.
